Smitten about Tarun Tahiliani’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Flowing lengha skirts and sheer saris in earth tone colors and soft pink with velvet borders! Need I say more?  A collection that truly captures the eyes as it shouts elegance and class. Something about it reminds me of the golden age – could it be all the little detail work in gold! Shilpa Shetty, the night’s show stopper, closed the show in a beautiful corset type sheer top and full lengha skirt. Two thumps up.

Over the moon, head over heels in love with Fahad Hussayn’s style of meshing modern day fashion with traditional details. The fusion of colors and fashionable and edgy designs fits perfectly with the bride distinctively in search of something uniquely different. Fahad is a young designer living Pakistan but known globally to South Asian fashion leaders.

An awe-inspiring design for the elegant and sophisticated bride. Fusing the modern and traditional with refined embellishment Sana Safinaz’s carefully crafts an array of designs masterfully to capture the true beauty of a woman’s body. I love the pastel colours, the flowing fabric, the layering, the fabulous necklines and the dash of colour here and there.

This wedding has me wildly enthusiastic with all its beauty. Set in the middle of the rainforest, waterfalls and volcano, the intimate and cultural wedding has you holding your breath with each image. Dmitri Markine fabulously captures the true essence of this spectacular wedding. The bride looked radiant in her beautiful purple saree and waiting at the altar was the remarkably cute and benign groom.

Note from Photographer:

Here’s one of the most memorable weddings from 2010.

When you think of destination weddings, most would think of an ocean and sand. This couple however decided to do something a bit different and they got married in Costa Rica,  La Fortuna @ the Springs Resort and Spa ,  near a live volcano & rain forests.  It does rain quite often in the area, but we mostly managed to avoid it over the course of 3 days of photography. If you like animals and birds, Costa Rica is probably one of the best places on earth to experience those up close. There’s no need to drive for hours with binoculars in search of something as it’s all right there in front of you! Sometimes you just need to slow down and look around you.  Chances are you’ll see dozens of birds, monkeys, spiders, frogs and snakes.  If you are staying in La Fortuna area near the volcano, you can also indulge yourself in the mineral hot springs or do some surfing in a nearby province.

The above are some of my favorite photos from those 3 days

Grazia’s fashion forward and sizzling photo shoot with the sultry well-rounded actress Asin can inspire brides-to-be narrow down their choices of hairstyle, wardrobe or jewellery to rock at their engagement photo shoot. There has been a lot of discussion about engagement shoots lately only because I understand many of you who are getting married in early 2011 will be touching base with your photographers. Or your photographers will be touching base with you to schedule your engagement photo shoot. When this time comes, you will be desperately looking to get ideas on how you can do your hair and what you should wear  – shoes, jewellery, dresses. If you are going for fun and flirty, i think this can definitely help!

Adore the subtle color palette with hints and bursts of colour in Khadijah Shah’s Bridal Collection for 2010.  I might be chiming in a bit too late, regardless this look works wonders for winter brides.  The colours are perfect for this time of the year. Love the fluidity of the fabrics as it flows to fit every body type.

“Élan is a relatively young fashion label having been launched six years ago by Khadijah Shah. She is respected for her combination of intricate embellishments, flattering silhouettes and attention to detail in the construction of each outfit. Indeed each collection is conceived with glamour, elegance and versatility in mind. Khadijah Shah inherited her design aesthetic from her mother Aneela Shah, who had a small atelier and a loyal clientele for years before Élan was formerly launched. In a short span of six years, Khadijah has formalised and expanded the label and created an effective and influential place for Élan in the fashion industry.” (Fashion Central)
